Why it matters
The panels come from the tracery window of a Gothic church in Styria showing the life of the Virgin Mary. They are among the main examples of Austrian stained glass from the early 1400s, showing the main influences of the Bohemian Beautiful Style, which is characterized by elegant figures, a vibrant color palette, and an abundance of ornamental drapery.
